Our prayers and ministry on behalf of others need to be focused on their hearts being comforted and encouraged in God’s truth. Pray for hearts to be woven together in a beautiful tapestry of love. Tapestries are never monochromatic, but are made of beautiful colors intricately interwoven to present a beautiful picture. So it is with the body of Christ. Believers from around the world are made up of many colors, cultures, and talents all woven together in harmony through God’s love. Terrible atrocities have been committed in the name of “Christianity.” That is truly taking the name of God in vain for their own personal agendas. We must bind together to show the truth of God’s love and His precious sacrifice on our behalf. Our lives and words need to declare the reality of Jesus!

Lord, I give you my life, everything I have been through, every part of me as a living sacrifice to be used for your glory. Use me Lord to proclaim your love, grace, peace, joy, and goodness. I want to be a living testimony of your awesomeness!

in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. NKJV
このキリストのうちに、知恵と知識との宝がすべて隠されているのです。
Do you ever read the Old Testament and see things like “God appeared to…” or “God spoke to…” and wonder why doesn’t God do that for me? Think about Abraham. He lived 175 years and the Lord appeared or spoke to him approximately ten times, often with the same message, to confirm that Abraham was on the right track. Now consider what we have in Christ. We have the hidden treasures of wisdom and comprehensive insights daily available to us and an ability to understand God’s purposes because of Jesus. Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 13:44-45 “… the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” Knowing Jesus is a pearl of great price. Knowing Him and daily seeking Him gives us the direction, knowledge, and insight we need. What is the price we pay for this privilege? Surrender. Surrender our selfishness, self-serving ways and old thought patterns that center on self. None of that self-centeredness is satisfied nor does it find contentment. When we are so centered on self we won’t be able to hear the Lord speaking to our hearts. Surrender self involvement and discover spiritual victory that frees our hearts to hear the Lord and bring contentment.
あ なたは旧約聖書を読んだことがありますか？その中で「神が．．．に現れた。」「神が．．．に話された。」というような箇所を読んでは、なぜ神は自分にもそ うしてくれないのかと疑問に思ったことはありませんか？アブラハムのことを思い浮かべてください。彼は１７５年間生きて、その間主はおよそ１０回話しかけ られ、彼が義を確立するために何度も同じメッセージを繰り返されました。さて私達がキリストにあって、何を手にしたか考えてみましょう。私達はイエス様に よって、日々の生活に役立つ隠された知恵、洞察力、神の目的を理解する能力が与えられています。イエス様がマタイ１３：４４－４５で述べたことを思い出し てください。「．．．天の御国は、良い真珠を捜している商人のようなものです。すばらしい値打ちの真珠を一つ見つけた者は、行って持ち物を全部売り払ってそれを買ってしまいます。」イ エス様を知ることは、高価な真珠を見つけるようなことです。主を知り、日々主を捜し求めることから、自分に必要な指導、知識、洞察力が得られます。この特 権を得るために、支払う代価は何でしょうか？自分を明け渡すことです。自分本位、自己の利益に奉仕すること、自己中心に陥る今までの考え方を放棄すること です。自己中心的な人は、満足することもなければ、満足できるものを見つけることもできません。自己中心でいると、主が自分に話しかけてくださる言葉を聞 くこともできません。自分にばかり捕らわれることを止めて、主の御言葉を聞いて満足感を得るために、自分の心を解放する霊的な勝利を見つけてください。
Jesus, create in me a clean heart so that I might be totally surrendered to you. You are the One I trust and all my hope is found in you. I want to know you more deeply.
主イエスよ、あなたに完全に自分を明け渡すために、汚れのない心を私のうちの造ってください。信頼できるのはあなただけです。私の望みのすべてはあなたにあります。あなたをもっと深く知ることが願いです。

Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. NKJV
私がこう言うのは、だれもまことしやかな議論によって、あなたがたをあやまちに導くことのないためです。
As in any life situation, a believer needs to grow and mature. Without personal growth we become stagnant and set ourselves up for failure. We all want to improve and gain knowledge and ability, right? All that is gained through maturity. Hebrews 6:1 says, “Let us go…on to maturity…” The devil doesn’t want us to mature in our relationship with the Lord. So he will throw up road blocks, deceive through plausible arguments, and does everything he can to sidetrack our trust in the Lord. Satan’s main goal in your life is to make shortcuts to faith seem attractive and reasonable. But remember that his aim is to deceive you! Jesus said in John 15:4-5 “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (NIV) Faith in Jesus is a relationship that can steadily grow as we prioritize our lives to foster a closer relationship. Know what you believe in and what God’s truth is so you won’t fall for Satan’s deceptions!
どんな境遇にあっても、神を信じる者は成長して成熟することが求められています。個人的な成長がなければ、私達全体は停滞して失敗に陥ってしまいます。私 達みんなが向上して、知識と能力を得たいと思いませんか？成熟することからすべてが得られます。へブル６：１は述べています。「成熟を目ざして進もうではありませんか．．．」悪 魔は私達が、主との交わりにおいて成熟することを嫌います。そこで悪魔は道をふさごうと、もっともらしい主張で人をだまし、主を信頼することから私達をわ き道にそらせるためなら何でもしてきます。あなたの人生におけるサタンの一番の目的は、魅力的で、筋の通ったように見せかけた信仰への近道へ、あなたを導 くことです。サタンのねらいは、あなたをあざむくことだということを忘れないでください！イエス様はヨハネ１５：４－５にて述べました。 「わたしにとどまりなさい。わたしも、あなたがたの中にとどまります。枝がぶどうの木についてなければ、枝だけでは実を結ぶことはできません。同様にあな たがたも、わたしにとどまっていなければ、実を結ぶことはできません。わたしはぶどうの木で、あなたがたは枝です。人がわたしにとどまり、わたしもその人 の中にとどまっているなら、そういう人は多くの実を結びます。わたしを離れては、あなたがたは何もすることができないからです。」イエス様への信仰とは、私達が主とより近い関係を育てることを最優先しながら、着実に成長する交わりのことです。あなたが信じていること、神の真実は何かを見極めてください、そうすれば、サタンのあざむきに陥ることはありません！
Lord, I will seek you! My heart belongs to you. I am committed to you wholeheartedly. Thank you for your grace and love. You are all that is good and precious in life!
主よ、あなたを捜し求めます！私の心はあなたのもとにあります。心からあなたにゆだねます。あなたの恵みと愛に感謝します。あなたはいつくしみ深く、尊い、私の人生のすべてです！

For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ. NKJV
私は、肉体においては離れていても、霊においてはあなたがたといっしょにいて、あなたがたの秩序とキリストに対する堅い信仰とを見て喜んでいます
Several things strike me in this verse. One is the reality that physical separation does not separate hearts. Hearts that are committed to the Lord are always linked. Some people can be together physically but miles apart in their hearts! But we have the Holy Spirit who binds our hearts together and the love flows, no matter the distance. Notice how Paul delights in the reputation of the Colossian believers. Sometimes, when we are in the midst of a major challenge, we don’t realize the testimony of our faith is made stronger because of an unwavering commitment to Christ. Two military terms are used to describe their dedication to the Lord. The first word is “orderly.” Orderly describes an army that is solidly united against the enemy. Remember that one area of the devil’s attacks is against Christian unity and solidarity! If he defeats our love (we are to be known by that) then we are set up for ridicule because of the lack of love and unity. If the devil can divide us, he can conquer us! “Steadfast” is the other military term. Steadfast describe an unyielding front. Every army needs discipline and obedience to survive. As Christians we face spiritual warfare and need the same qualities in our lives. Just like the hymn says, we need to “trust and obey, for there is no other way…”
この節のいくつかの言葉に胸を打たれました。そのひとつは、身体的に離れていても、心は離れることはないという事実です。主と深くつながった心と心は、常 に結びついています。身体的には一緒に居ても、心と心がかけ離れている人たちもいます！しかし私達には心と心をつなぐ聖霊と、どんなに離れていても尽きる ことのない愛があります。パウロがコロサイの信者の信望をどんなに喜んだことか、そこに目を留めてください。自分が大きな試練の中にある時は、キリストと 揺るぎなく結びついていることから、自分の信仰のあかしが強められていても、そのことを実感できないものです。二つの軍隊用語が、主への献身を表すために 使われています。その一つは「秩序」です。秩序は軍隊が敵に対して、しっかりと一丸となっている様子を描写しています。悪魔が攻撃する領域は、クリスチャ ンの統一と結束であることを思い出してください！もし悪魔が私達の愛（私達は愛によって結びついています。）を打ち破ったら、愛と統一に欠けたことで、私 達はあざけりを受けるでしょう。もし悪魔が私達を分け隔てることができたら、私達を征服してしまうことでしょう！「堅さ」はもう一つの軍隊用語です。堅さ は、屈しない最前線の様子を描写しています。すべての軍人が、訓練と生き残るための従順さを必要とします。クリスチャンとしても、霊的な葛藤に直面した ら、同じような特性が求められます。ちょうど賛美歌にあるように「信じて従うこと、他の道などありません．．．」という気持ちが欠かせません。
Lord, the cry of my heart is to be steadfast in my obedience to you. I want to be in unity and harmony with other believers and daily walk with you, trusting you and obedient to your ways. Thank you for the way you tie our hearts together, no matter where we are. Your love is amazing as it brings believer’s hearts together!
主よ、私の心の叫びは、堅くあなたに従うことです。あなたを信頼して、あなたの道に従いながら、他の信者と共に一つになって調和し、日々あなたと共に歩む ことができますように。私がどこにいても、心と心を結びつけてくださることに感謝します。あなたの愛は、信者の心を見事につないでくれます！

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him NKJV
あなたがたは、このように主キリスト・イエスを受け入れたのですから、彼にあって歩みなさい。
In the Middle East walking is not considered recreation but always has a purpose. When Paul challenges us to “walk in Him,” he is talking about how we regulate our lives and conduct ourselves. It goes straight to the heart of motivation, attitude, and the determination to live for the Lord. Jesus always confronted motivation and attitude, what was in the heart. We can make ourselves look good to others or even look “holy.” We put our lives on “autopilot,” just functioning but not really allowing the Lord to lead. We look good on the outside to others but we don’t really live by walking in Him. But God looks at the heart! Keeping our hearts pure before Him and choosing to walk in His truth, motivated by love for Him and others, is what makes a Christ-like transformation possible in us. Learning to walk with Jesus is to declare your absolute trust and confidence in His guidance through His power, wisdom, goodness, and love.
中東地域では歩くことをレクリエーションと見なさず、歩くときは必ず目的を伴います。パウロが私達に「主にあって歩みなさい。」と要求した時、同時に自分 の生活を規制し、身のふるまいに気をつけることを含んでいました。それは主のために生きる熱意、態度、決断の気持ちを指しています。イエス様はいつも、ご 自身の熱意、態度、心のうちにあるものと向き合っていました。私達は他人に対して、自分をよく見せたり、「聖なる者」に見せかけることもできます。「自動 装置操縦者」のように機能的に自分を動かすこともできます。けれどもそれでは、主に導かれているとは言えません。他の人に見た目だけを良くみせても、主に あって歩み生きることにはなりません。なぜなら神は心を見ておられるからです！主の御前にあって、汚れのない心を保ち、主と他の人を愛する気持ちから、主 の真実にあって歩むことが、自分をキリストのように変えることにつながります。イエス様と共に歩む学びは、主の威力、知恵、善、愛を通して、主の導きに対 する絶対の信頼と確信を証明することです。
Lord, I don’t want to function on auto-pilot nor do I want to be a man-pleaser. I want to honor you and please you from the inside out. I want to daily walk with you! You are my Shepherd, my Lord, and my heart belongs to you!
主よ、自動装置操縦者のように機能したくありません。また人を喜ばす者にもなりたくありません。あなたをたたえ、あなたを喜ばすことが望みです。毎日あなたと共に歩みます。あなたは私の羊飼い、我が主、私の心はあなたのものです！

Colossians コロサイ 2:7
Rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. NKJV
キリストの中に根ざし、また建てられ、また、教えられたとおり信仰を堅くし、あふれるばかり感謝しなさい。
What makes a tree strong? It’s the root system. The roots of a tree are what draw nourishment and water (refreshment) from the soil in which it is planted. As believers, where are our roots to be established? The vitality of our lives is found in our relationship with the Lord! Vitality is to live, grow and develop well. So how do you develop a vital, deep relationship with the Lord? First, any relationship requires an investment of effort and time. Disciplining yourself to take the time to really spend time in God’s word. Let it fill your heart and mind. Think about what you are reading. Pray with thanksgiving and talk to the Lord about everything. Then listen with your heart to what the Lord is showing you. Sometimes it is hard because you must surrender the self-centered part of your life to become more Christ centered. Three of the criteria for understanding when the Lord speaks to you are: 1) it will fit perfectly with scripture, 2) it will always honor God and, 3) it will be a blessing to others. Sometimes we may not want to listen because we will need to sacrifice our self-centered attitudes and ways. But each time you sacrifice “self” you make room for more of God and your relationship with Him grows.
木を強くするものは何ですか？木の根は植えられている土から、栄養と水分（生きるための必要なもの）を吸い上げます。神を信じる者として、私達の根はどこ に根ざして伸びていますか？私達の活力は、主との交わりにあります！活力は、生きて、成長して、発達するために欠かせません。それではどうやって生命維持 に必要な、主との深い交わりを発展させることができますか？まず、どんな交わりにも、努力と時間の投資が欠かせません。御言葉を読む習慣をつけることで す。御言葉であなたの心と思いを満たしてください。読んだ言葉をよく考えてみてください。感謝を込めて祈り、主にすべてを話してください。それから、主が あなたに示されることに、心から耳を傾けてください。それがなかなかできない時もあります、なぜなら自己中心からキリスト中心に、自己を明け渡さなければ ならないからです。主があなたに話されたかどうか判断する基準は次の三点です、１）その内容が、完全に聖書の御言葉と調和すること。２）いつも神をたたえ るものであること。３）他の人を祝福するものであること。時には、聞きたくない内容であるかも知れません、なぜなら自己中心の態度や手段を犠牲にしなけれ ばいけないからです。しかし自己を犠牲にするたびに、心の中で神の占める部分が増えて、神との交わりを成長させることができます。
Thank you, Lord that you desire the best for those who trust in you. Thank you that you speak to the heart that searches for you. You are always faithful and trustworthy. I just want to grow closer and closer to you!
主よ、あなたを信頼する者の最善を望んでくださり感謝します。私の心に語りかけ、心をさぐってくださり感謝します。あなたにもっと近づいて成長することだけが望みです！

Psalms 詩篇 1:1-3
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. NKJV
幸いなことよ。悪者のはかりごとに歩まず、罪人の道に立たず、あざける者の座に着かなかった、その人。2 まことに、その人は主のおしえを喜びとし、昼も夜もそのおしえを口ずさむ。3 その人は、水路のそばに植わった木のようだ。時が来ると実がなり、その葉は枯れない。その人は、何をしても栄える。
Verse 1 tells us what not to do! Don’t be active with or submitted to non-Christians by allowing them to determine the standards (principles) by which you live. That includes being influenced by television, movies, and any other form of media! Don’t relax or let your guard down around those who would scorn your faith in the Lord. To be blessed, discover and live by the delights found in the Bible. Remember what 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (NKJV) Let God’s Word work in your heart, motivations, and attitude so you will be conformed to God’s purposes for your life.
第一節では、してはいけないことを教えています！あなたの生きる基準（原則）をノンクリスチャンに左右されて、彼らと進んで関係を持ったり受け入れないで ください。テレビ、映画、他のメディアから影響を受けることも同様です！主への信仰を、あざ笑う人に対して、気を許したり警戒を怠らないことです。神から 祝福を受けるために、聖書から見いだした喜びを持って生きてください。２テモテ３：１６－１７を思い出してください。「聖書はすべて神の霊感によるもので、教えと戒めと矯正と義の訓練とのために有益です。それは、神の人が、すべての良い働きのためにふさわしい十分に整えられた者となるためです。」神があなたの人生に持っておられる目的に順応できるように、御言葉をあなたの心、熱意、態度に生かしてください。
Thank you for the way you bless those who seek to honor you, Lord. Thank you for the wisdom found in your Word and for your Holy Spirit who works in hearts to teach and equip. You are so good to those who trust in you!
主よ、あなたをたたえる者を祝福してくださり感謝します。あなたから得る知恵と、私の心に教え備えてくださる御霊の働きに感謝します。あなたを信頼する者に、あなたは何といつくしみ深いのでしょう！

Jeremiah エレミヤ 17:7-8
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD. 8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit. NKJV
主に信頼し、主を頼みとする者に祝福があるように。8 その人は、水のほとりに植わった木のように、流れのほとりに根を伸ばし、暑さが来ても暑さを知らず、葉は茂って、日照りの年にも心配なく、いつまでも実をみのらせる。
To know God more, we must be “blessable” or “able to be blessed.” If we are unteachable and are always fighting against God’s ways, God will always have to be working in a disciplinary way, trying to teach you how to walk in his ways. If you are teachable you become “blessable.” Establish your trust, hope, and confidence in Jesus and you will desire to be conformed into His image. I want my life to honor God and be fruitful, don’t you? Isn’t it worth the effort to truly seek Him with your whole heart?
神をもっと知るために「祝福されやすい」また「祝福されることができる」ようにあるべきです。もし私達が教えを聞かず、いつも神の道に反発していたら、神 はいつもあなたをしつけて、神の道をいかにして歩むか教えなければならないでしょう。もしあなたが教えをよく聞くなら「祝福されやすく」なれるでしょう。 あなたの信頼、希望、自信を、イエス様にあって確立してください。そうしたら神のイメージ通りになることが、あなたの望みとなるはずです。私は自分の生涯 をかけて、神をたたえ、人生の実を結ぶことを願っています、あなたはどうですか？心を尽くして神を捜し求める努力は、きっと報われるのではありませんか？
Lord, I want to be both teachable and “blessable.” I desire to be rooted and grounded in you! Work in me and make me more like you, I pray!
主よ、教えをよく聞く「祝福されやすい」者になれまように。あなたに根ざして、あなたを基盤として成長できますように！私のうちに働いて、あなたのようにしてください、祈ります！

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. NIV
あのむなしい、だましごとの哲学によってだれのとりこにもならぬよう、注意しなさい。そのようなものは、人の言い伝えによるものであり、この世に属する幼稚な教えによるものであって、キリストに基づくものではありません。
We all need to be aware of dangers. Dangers can take us captive as they kidnap our minds. It happens through ignorance of the truths of the Word of God. The susceptible person becomes captivated by high sounding philosophy and, as they get so caught up in it, they miss seeing the hollowness of the delusions. As believers we are now citizens of heaven. Man’s traditions and philosophies should not cause us to turn from God’s truth. Clinging to empty earthly values and thinking denounces our heavenly citizenship. Remember that if you want true wisdom apply Psalm 111:10, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.” NIV. 2 Cor 10:4-5 tells us how to have control over the deceit of the world. “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. NIV We find the list of the armor of God in Ephesians 6. Every piece is defensive except one, Eph 6: 17 “… the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” NIV Even Jesus used the Word of God to answer every temptation the devil threw at him in Matthew 4. The snare of temptation is that you want to do it. Jesus was tempted. But He overcame the temptations with same the three things listed here. He had a reverent, worshipful fear of His Father. He brought every thought into captivity. And He fought with the Sword of the Spirit, the word of God! Knowing God’s word as an act of reverence and love for Him keeps us aware of the dangers.

Why would we want to fall for man-made philosophies when everything we need to know and experience is found in Jesus? We are made complete in our relationship with Christ. You may not feel complete but you are. For example, I don’t feel my actual, chronological age. I feel much younger. But the fact remains that I am not 29 any more! Just because I feel young doesn’t make me young! We may not feel complete. But our union with Christ makes us complete. His work, begun in you at the time you receive him as your Lord and Savior, creates a fresh new you that begins within you. And remember Philippians 1:6, “…that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it” NKJV You can trust Him!

Thank you that you are faithful, always! Thank you for the work you did for me on the cross, Jesus! I am so grateful for you and the truth of who you are and what you have done. I rest in your unchanging grace!

キリストにあって、あなたがたは人の手によらない割礼を受けました。肉のからだを脱ぎ捨て、キリストの割礼を受けたのです。
Circumcision was the outward sign of the covenant between the Jews and God. In the New Testament church, many of the Jews tried to enforce circumcision and the law on the gentile believers. Paul was trying to show them that it wasn’t by outward deeds but by the inner work of Jesus that makes the difference. Circumcision isn’t wrong. But holiness and spiritual depth aren’t achieved by an outward action. Holiness and spiritual depth are not achievements at all! Even in the Old Testament God challenged the Jews to not depend on an outward physical surgery but to have a spiritual circumcision of the heart as well. (Deuteronomy 10:16-17 “Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer. 17 For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.”) A circumcised heart is about having a commitment to the Lord, loving Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Righteousness and holiness are a part of the Jesus’ gift of salvation. On the cross He cut through all the layers of sin and its power and through His resurrection gives believers the victory. Our part is making the decision to have a committed life of faith by trusting Him. The actions we take are in response to what He’s done for us and in us. Righteousness and holiness are not dependent on our effort or achievements!

Baptism doesn’t save you anymore than circumcision does. Baptism is an outward expression of an inner decision. It is a picture of what Jesus’ death and resurrection has done for us. It illustrates the reality that we are now dead to sin and victoriously alive because of Jesus. There were Jews who were outwardly circumcised but inwardly hard hearted. It is also true of people who have been baptized. Many who have been baptized have hard hearts and stubbornly live as they please. Baptism is a wonderful picture of a new life with Christ. But unless your inner being keeps on seeking to know God better and you choose to honor Him, it is just an empty outward action. Living in obedience to God’s word brings new life in Christ.

Thank you for baptism to illustrate what you have done for me, Jesus. It is a beautiful experience. And yet I know that it is my daily attitude of worship that gives me power for living. Thank you for your daily grace, mercy, and strength!

あなたがたは罪によって、また肉の割礼がなくて死んだ者であったのに、神は、そのようなあなたがたを、キリストとともに生かしてくださいました。それは、私たちのすべての罪を赦し、14 いろいろな定めのために私たちに不利な、いや、私たちを責め立てている債務証書を無効にされたからです。神はこの証書を取りのけ、十字架に釘づけにされました。
Jesus did the work for us on the cross. It wasn’t man-made nails, but our sins, that held Him to the cross. Jesus had a choice to stay on the cross or not. But He chose the nails because of His love for you and me. He fulfilled the laws that governed outward behavior by nailing them to the cross so we can have a truly amazing inner experience of new life. Discovering all that Jesus accomplished on the cross is a life-long adventure in getting to know Him better. Isn’t it wonderful that God isn’t so small that we can understand everything in one moment! Fresh, deeper understanding comes as we grow closer in our relationship with the Lord.

Lord, I am glad that you are bigger than my finite mind and understanding. I love the excitement of discovering more of who you are and what you have done for me! Knowing you is the greatest thing in my life!

神は、キリストにおいて、すべての支配と権威の武装を解除してさらしものとし、彼らを捕虜として凱旋の行列に加えられました。
The cross is a major event in history. Life before and after the cross is as far apart as the east is from the west! The cross is the hinge that opened the way. But there is also that wonderfully personal moment in our own history when we realize who Jesus is. That is when we personally experience the power of the cross. Jesus totally disarmed and destroyed any power that our enemy, Satan, can have over us. Though Satan is like a chained up wild dog, noisy, straining at the chain, we are safe with Jesus. When we choose to step into his chained area we find problems. Jesus triumphed over the devil. So why do we continue to ignore His triumph by giving into temptation and allowing it to pull us into the devil’s clutches? Don’t be influenced by those who try to rob us of the victory Jesus sacrificially has given us! Experience who Jesus is and walk in the victory of what He has done for us!

This whole chapter is an awesome prophecy of Jesus, the Messiah. Verse after verse describes His humility, suffering, love, and outpouring of His life. The conclusion is the reward for His faithfulness. Jesus’ life and death were not accidents. They were planned from the beginning. The first promise of a Savior was given in Genesis 3:15, “From now on, you and the woman will be enemies, and your offspring and her offspring will be enemies. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." NLT God was warning Satan who had disguised himself as a serpent. The offspring of woman would be the Messiah, Jesus, who would defeat the devil. The devil would only be able to be a bit of a pest even though he would be constantly working at destroying Him. Is it any wonder that one of the devils tactics is to discredit creation? By tempting mankind to disbelieve in creation he is working to discredit and devalue Jesus. He wants our faith to be eroded because he knows he has been crushed! Never settle for the way of the defeated devil! He wants you to be defeated because he hates you and wants to see you destroyed. Walk in triumph with the Victor, Jesus, who loves you unconditionally and loyally forever!

Legalism is a vile thing! Legalism is man making up rules for men so they can “become holy.” Legalism ignores Jesus’ victory on the cross by demanding you do things a certain way. There are various forms of legalism but they are all man-made! Somehow or other we love to do religious activity and works because we take pride in doing them. That pride in turn makes us feel self-righteous. My parents were totally caught up on the legalism treadmill before I was born. When Mom totally comprehended grace and what Jesus did for her she was set free from the bondage of legalism and her life reflected God’s grace, peace, joy, and love. Why would anyone want to be entangled by a man-made code of religious behavior when Jesus has provided the way for victorious living?

Thank you Jesus, that you are my righteousness! Thank you that I don’t have to be bound up trying to live by impossible rules and regulations! Thank you for the freedom and joy of living that you give those who trust in you!

Why settle for a symbol rather than experience the reality? For example, I like M&Ms. I don’t want to just hold an empty bag of M&Ms, admiring the bag, and touching it. Why not? Because it is empty! There’s no value to the package! I want the M&Ms on my tongue so I can savor them. I want them in me! If that is true of a little piece of chocolate, isn’t it an even more valued truth to have a real relationship with Jesus, not settling for any substitute or empty experience? How can we allow ourselves to be distracted from Jesus’ desire for us to have communion and union with Him? Jesus speaks of this union in John 14:20 “…I am in my Father and you in me, and I in you.” Accept no substitutes! David’s cry in Psalm 27:8 is “My heart says of you, ‘Seek his face!’ Your face, LORD, I will seek.” Seeking His face is getting to know the Lord’s character and nature. This is true communion. The union comes when we become like who we are worshipping. Discover the Lord’s character and His nature and you will be changed!

Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions. 19 He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow. NIV
あなたがたは、ことさらに自己卑下をしようとしたり、御使い礼拝をしようとする者に、ほうびをだまし取られてはなりません。彼らは幻を見たことに安住して、肉の思いによっていたずらに誇り、19 かしらに堅く結びつくことをしません。このかしらがもとになり、からだ全体は、関節と筋によって養われ、結び合わされて、神によって成長させられるのです。
If we aren’t going to accept only a symbol of Jesus, why would we allow ourselves to be defrauded by man’s ideas of God? Many men are incredible orators and can sway public opinion to their own side. Others do it through “guilt-trips,” persistently making you feel obligated to obey them. Often we are tempted to follow along because it is easier. But be wise enough not to settle for an imitation! Don’t feel it is because you are weak or that you are tempted. The devil even tried to tempt Jesus to accept a substitute! Matthew 4:8-10 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 "All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me." 10 Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'” How can we tell the truth from a lie? 1 John 4:1-4 gives us the truth formula. “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. 4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” Deception comes when we don’t recognize Jesus as God who became man. Man-made deception reigns when we don’t lift Jesus up and fail to believe all that He accomplished on earth, on the cross, and through resurrection. There are no “buts” or “howevers” or any other amendments to the truth of who Jesus is. Don’t be swayed from God’s truth found in Jesus

Thank you Lord for your gift of righteousness! I am glad I don’t have to achieve holiness or righteousness on my own, because I know how weak I am. Thank you for being strong enough to provide all that I need! Jesus you are awesome! I love you!

What does “died with Christ” mean? Remember that when Jesus died legalism that tries to rule you was also nailed to the cross. He took your sin with Him to the death so it would not have power over you. His death and resurrection defeated the enemy. All the things that could pull us away from the Lord have been overcome. When we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, we also have victory over those things. So why devalue what Jesus accomplished by going along with the ways of the world? Worldly things, just as legalism and the devil, are defeated foes! Our hope in Jesus is living and real. Never settle for defeat when you can live in victory!

Do not touch!"? 22 These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings. 23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence. NIV
「すがるな。味わうな。さわるな。」というような定めに縛られるのですか。22 そのようなものはすべて、用いれば滅びるものについてであって、人間の戒めと教えによるものです。23 そのようなものは、人間の好き勝手な礼拝とか、謙遜とか、または、肉体の苦行などのゆえに賢いもののように見えますが、肉のほしいままな欲望に対しては、何のききめもないのです。
Some people think that by keeping a strict personal discipline they can attain something. Legalism is imposed on a person. But this is self-imposed discipline in order to achieve holiness. This kind of self-imposed discipline, like legalism, leads to pride and self-righteousness. Be careful not to make it all about “me” and what I have done to show my worth to God! We all need discipline in our lives. But the discipline shouldn’t be our god! Misuse of discipline becomes abuse! Why would we want to abuse ourselves and devalue Jesus in the process? Jesus came so that we might have an abundant life! Jesus said in John 10:9-10 “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” The discipline we need is to deny the things that push us away from total trust in Jesus!
自己を厳しく規制することで、何かを獲得できると考える人たちがいます。律法主義は人間に課せられたものです。しかも聖らかさを獲得するために、自分に課 した規制です。律法主義のような自己規制は、高慢とひとりよがりにつながります。すべて「自分」のためにならないように、すべて自分の価値を神にわかって もらうためにならにように、気をつけてください！私達はみな、生きるために規制が必要です。けれども規制を自分の神のようにあがめてはいけません！規制の 悪用は虐待になります！どうして自分自身を虐待し、さらにその過程においてイエス様の値打ちを下げてしまうのでしょうか？イエス様は私達が豊かに生きるた めに来られました！イエス様はヨハネ１０：９－１０にて告げています。「わたしは門です。だれでも、わたしを通って入るなら、救われます。また安らかに出入りし、牧草を見つけます。盗人が来るのは、ただ盗んだり、殺したり、滅ぼしたりするだけのためです。わたしが来たのは、羊がいのちを得、またそれを豊かに持つためです。」私達に必要な規制は、イエス様への完全なる信頼から、引き離そうとするものを否定することです！

こういうわけで、もしあなたがたが、キリストとともによみがえらされたのなら、上にあるものを求めなさい。そこにはキリストが、神の右に座を占めておられます。2 あなたがたは、地上のものを思わず、天にあるものを思いなさい。3 あなたがたはすでに死んでおり、あなたがたのいのちは、キリストとともに、神のうちに隠されてあるからです。
Not only did we die with Christ, we are also alive with Him through resurrection power! With that in mind our aim should be to live like it! Discover what it means to commune with Him. We also need to determine how we can live by the faith that Jesus lived by. Did Jesus have faith? We think about having faith in Jesus. But the truth is, Jesus also had faith in God the Father! Jesus spent time communing with His Father and then He walked in total faith and trust. He was tempted to deviate from it, but He didn’t! When our objective is to know Jesus more intimately, we will discover that He is reaching out to us. Intimacy is gained step by step and is a life long allegiance. The same is true in any close relationship. It is a life commitment to know someone. Walking daily with Jesus develops a closer union with Him as we truly seek Him with all our hearts. He gave His all so that would be possible!

Jesus, I do want to commune with you and grow closer to you daily! I want to have a faith like yours and to have your love and grace seen in me. You are the treasure of my heart!

…your life is now hidden with Christ in God.NIV
...あなたがたのいのちは、キリストとともに、神のうちに隠されてあるからです。
“Hidden” means to secure a treasure in a valuable place. We are Jesus’ precious treasure and He keeps us in a safe place. Jesus sits totally secure at the right hand of God the Father and we are sheltered in that safety. Ephesians 2:4-7 “… because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions — it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.” Since we are secure and rich in grace, shouldn’t we live like it? We don’t have to be miserly with God’s grace! It can never be used up or disappear! We can also have heavenly perspective for our life! That doesn’t mean to see the future. The future is in God’s hands. But it means seeing how to live today. Remember it is always today! We can’t live tomorrow today, because tomorrow doesn’t ever come! We don’t know what tomorrow holds, but we can trust His faithfulness, His grace, and His love to be there guiding and protecting us!

私たちのいのちであるキリストが現われると、そのときあなたがたも、キリストとともに、栄光のうちに現われます。
Our friends have a daughter named Esther. When Esther was very young she was trying to understand different family relationships like husband and wife. Finally she got it! She said “Mommy is Daddy’s life!” (She didn’t understand the difference between life and wife.) We laughed over her innocent mistake. But it actually was true. When people marry they are to give their lives to each other. Marriage is a picture of our relationship with Christ. Marriage is one of Satan’s most severe attacks. He doesn’t want us to have a clear understanding of the intimacy of heart and spirit we can have with Jesus. So he tries to destroy that picture. Unfortunately, in many marriages the husband and wife have totally separate lives. Yet that should show how we, too, separate ourselves from Christ—reserving Him for when we need or want Him. If we are to have an abundant life, we need to develop intimacy with Christ. He is coming back again! We the church (believers) are called “the bride of Christ.” As brides we need to be prepared emotionally, spiritually and mentally for that momentous time when Jesus comes again. We start right now, today, by wholeheartedly making Jesus our life!
私達のある友人には、エスタと言う名の娘がいます。エスタがまだ小さかった頃、彼女は夫と妻のような、家族の中の関係を知りたいと思うようになりました。 そしてついにわかる日が来ました！「ママはパパのいのち！」と答えました。（彼女にはライフとワイフの違いが理解できなかったのです。）私達は、彼女のあ どけない間違いに大笑いしました。ところが、実際それは本当のことです。結婚とは、お互いに自分の命をささげることです。結婚は、私達とキリストの関係を 映し出しています。また結婚は、サタンからもっともひどい攻撃を受けるもののひとつです。サタンは私達が、イエス様との心と霊の親密な交わりを、明確に理 解することを嫌います。そのためそれを映し出すものを滅ぼそうと試みます。残念なことに、多くの結婚した夫と妻は完全に別れています。そしてそれが影響し て、キリストを求め必要としているのに、主から離れていく結果とつながっています。もし豊かな人生を送りたいのなら、キリストとの親密な関係を育てなけれ ばいけません。主は再び戻って来られます！私達、教会（信者）は「キリストの花嫁」と呼ばれています。花嫁として私達は、イエス様が再び来られた時のため に、感情的、霊的、精神的に心の準備を整えなければいけません。今ここで、今日、心を尽くしてイエス様を私達のいのちとしましょう！
Thank you, Jesus for all that you have done for me. I believe that you are truly my all in all, even when I don’t act like it. Help me Lord to understand how to make that true in spirit and action. I want my life to be totally centered on you!

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. NIV
ですから、地上のからだの諸部分、すなわち、不品行、汚れ、情欲、悪い欲、そしてむさぼりを殺してしまいなさい。このむさぼりが、そのまま偶像礼拝なのです。
As believers and since Jesus has become our life, we should choose to set apart our lives from the idolatry of the world. Some of the things the worldly mind sets up as idols are a casual attitude towards sex and the attitude that anything is okay and is accepted. Another is feeding the lust for sex through pornography, movies, TV, and books which encourage our thought lives to become actions. We too often develop the attitude of tolerance towards sin and intolerance towards spiritual things. Gradually this attitude leads to a point where lust rules you. Perhaps sexual lust isn’t your main problem. But what about lust for power or lust for money? All of the earthly desires that motivate us and move our hearts away from being centered on Jesus are sin because they are idolatry! Jesus died to pay the price for our sins. Shouldn’t we honor Him by putting to death our desires and inclinations to sin? Every time we deny the temptation to sin, including the temptation to feed the desire, we are putting it to death. Isaiah 28:10 and 13 tells us that we learn "Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little.” (NKJV) It’s walking one step at a time towards Christ. We deviate from a life with Christ the same way—one little compromise at a time. Let’s set our minds on Christ and choose to grow closer to Jesus one lesson at a time.
イエス様を自分のいのちとして受け入れ、イエス様を信じる者となったからには、この世の偶像礼拝から自分の生活を切り離さなければなりません。世俗の考え の中には、セックスに警戒しない態度をとるアイドルを容認したり、何でも簡単に同意して受け入れてしまう態度を引き起こすものがあります。他にも考えない で行動に走らせる、ポルノ、映画、テレビ、本を通して性的欲望を提供するものにあふれています。私達は罪には寛大に、霊的なことには狭量な態度を育ててし まいがちです。このような態度は、いつのまにかあなたを欲望に支配されるように導いていきます。おそらくあなたにとって、性的欲望が主な問題ではないで しょう。それでは権力に対する欲望、金銭欲についてはどうでしょうか？イエス様中心から私達の心を引き離そうとする、世俗的欲望は罪です、なぜなら偶像礼 拝だからです！イエス様は私達の罪の代価を支払うために死なれました。自分の欲望を殺して、罪への傾きを許さず、主をたたえるべきではありませんか？誘惑 から欲望をふくらませることを含めて、罪への誘惑を否定するたびに、罪を殺すことができます。イザヤ２８：１０、１３は、私達が学ぶべきことを教えていま す。「戒めに戒め、戒めに戒め、規則に規則、規則に規則、ここに少し、あそこに少し。」これはキリストに向かって一歩ずつ歩くことです。私達がキリストと共にある人生から離れる時にも、一歩ずつ小さな妥協から離れていきます。自分の心をキリストに置いて、一回ごとの一つの学びから、イエス様に近づき成長しましょう。

このようなことのために、神の怒りが下るのです。7 あなたがたも、以前、そのようなものの中に生きていたときは、そのような歩み方をしていました。
Never confuse God’s love with tolerance towards sin! Sin is vile, evil, destructive, and repugnant to God! God clearly understands the destructiveness of sin and His holy, righteous anger is kindled against it. Many years ago we had a wonderful dog named Cleo. A friend had found Cleo as a stray and gave her to us. She was full of personality and a wonderful companion. We really loved Cleo. But Cleo had a very irritating habit. As soon as I would give her a bath and make her all clean and sweet smelling, she would tear out of the house and find something disgusting to roll around in. Then she would come back smelling like a dead animal or dung. It was so frustrating. But aren’t we like Cleo? Jesus purifies us. Then as soon as possible we go out and pollute our minds with worldly lusts. We need to understand the snare and stink of the world because those things destroy our closeness with Christ. If we can understand the difference in lifestyles before we believed in Christ and after, we would then discover the true freedom of living the Jesus style of life.

Thank you, Jesus for teaching the truth, showing the way, and enlightening our minds to understand how to grow close to you each step of the way.

だれが自分の数々のあやまちを悟ることができましょう。どうか、隠れている私の罪をお赦しください。13 あなたのしもべを、傲慢の罪から守ってください。それらが私を支配しませんように。そうすれば、私は全き者となり、大きな罪を、免れて、きよくなるでしょう。
Presumptuous sins are the things we do that we think are okay in our own eyes. One of the saddest books to me in the Bible is the book of Judges. Over and over God would miraculously deliver the people from their enemies and then the people would all go back to doing “what was right in their own eyes.” Proverbs 21:2 tells us, “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the hearts.” (NKJV) We all justify what we do as right without using God’s standards as the true measure. How do we slip into sin? Step by step and presuming what we do is okay. We need to learn to look at God’s word for His standards on which to base our decisions in life! Take the time to read the whole of Psalm 19 and really think about how perfect and pure God’s standards are!
傲慢の罪は、自分の考えを自分の目で判断して正しいと思うことです。私にとって、聖書の中で一番悲しい書は、「士師記」です。何度も何度も神は奇跡を起こ して、敵からご自分の民を救い出しますが、すぐにまた民は「自分の目に正しいこと」をするために戻ってしまいます。箴言２１：２は教えています。「人は自分の道はみな正しいと思う。しかし主は人の心の値打ちをはかられる。」神 の真実の計りの基準を用いずに、私達はみな自分の行いを正当化します。どうやったら罪に滑り落ちるでしょうか？自分の行いに問題はないと思い込みながら、 一歩一歩進むことです。神の基準で人生における物事の判断をするためには、神のことばを学ばなければできません！時間をかけて詩篇１９章を読んでくださ い。そして神の基準がいかに完全で汚れのないものか、真剣に考えてみてください！
Lord, my prayer is like the Psalmists, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14 NKJV)

What are the habits that dominated our life before Christ? Are we allowing them to control us now as well? Have you had a pattern of letting anger control you? Have you just looked at the negative things in others, seeing the worst and disliking them for their weaknesses? Have you been controlled by paranoia? Has your mouth been filled with gossip, “bad-mouthing” others, using words that don’t honor God? Do you lie to make yourself look good? Do you lie to yourself about what is good? This type of behavior is like wearing “grave clothes.” (Grave clothes in New Testament times were strips of cloth wrapped around the body, binding it.) Our bad attitude and behavior patterns bind us from the new life we have received from Jesus. Remember that Romans 12:2 reminds us to “…not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (NKJV)

Lord, I do want my mind to be renewed to see things as you do. I want to honor you in what I do, I know I am weak and fail so often. Thank you that you forgive me and give me a fresh start. I desire to live for you!

(…since you have taken off your old self with its practices) and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. NIV
新しい人を着たのです。新しい人は、造り主のかたちに似せられてますます新しくされ、真の知識に至るのです。11 そこには、ギリシヤ人とユダヤ人、割礼の有無、未開人、スクテヤ人、奴隷と自由人というような区別はありません。キリストがすべてであり、すべてのうちにおられるのです。
The “new self” is best expressed as a process of being renewed and remolded. Christ’s work in us is a constant process. Just like anything that has life, there is always growth and change. So our life as believers involves a process of being changed into a more Christ-like attitude and behavior. Our choices show what we value, a Christ-like life or a world-centered spiritual death. As believers nothing should separate our hearts and commitment from one another. We may have cross cultural and language differences. But we are joined by the stronger bond of the love of Jesus. That is what should always be the determining factor in our relationships!

Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. NIV
それゆえ、神に選ばれた者、聖なる、愛されている者として、あなたがたは深い同情心、慈愛、謙遜、柔和、寛容を身に着けなさい。13 互いに忍び合い、だれかがほかの人に不満を抱くことがあっても、互いに赦し合いなさい。主があなたがたを赦してくださったように、あなたがたもそうしなさい。14 そして、これらすべての上に、愛を着けなさい。愛は結びの帯として完全なものです。
As citizens of heaven we have a higher priority of putting Christ first, learning to love as Jesus loved—unconditionally and loyally. We need to look for ways to encourage and build up one another. We are all a work in progress! The world’s way is to want people to be patient with our failures and weaknesses. But Jesus taught a new value system. Jesus’ value system is one that gives patience and kindness and doesn’t demand it. We are to give mercy to others with no expectations. Accept our differences and let love determine our attitude and actions. Forgive others as Christ forgave. Jesus didn’t demand for us to be perfect before He forgave us. Forgiveness is not an emotion. It isn’t based on any kind of merit! Forgiveness is a decision based on obedience to Jesus! Forgiveness frees you from the bondage of grave clothes, liberating you to spiritual, emotional, and mental freedom. Let the love of Jesus fill your heart and overflow to others!

Thank you, Lord for the way you love! I want to love like you do! I want your kindness and mercy to flow out of me! By your abundant grace and mercy help me to be more like you!

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. NIV
キリストの平和が、あなたがたの心を支配するようにしなさい。そのためにこそあなたがたも召されて一体となったのです。また、感謝の心を持つ人になりなさい。
This peace is like an umpire in our hearts. Obeying godly ways in our relationships with others brings His peace. Having peace with God means we will also be at peace with other believers. We may not always agree about everything. But we aren’t made as robots or puppets! We each have our own gifts and callings. Recognize those strengths, encourage them, and accept one another’s weaknesses in love! And add to this a thankful heart, one that expresses gratitude freely and often to the Lord. And don’t forget to express thanks and appreciation to others as well. We all need that kind of encouragement!
